He is American by nationality and has a belief in the Judaist religion. He completed his early schooling at the Massapequa High School, Long Island, New York, the United States. 
After that, he also enrolled himself at the State University of New York, Oswego. His second year at Queens College, City University of New York, culminated with his receiving a degree in communications and drama from the institution. His parents were both Jewish, and he was reared in Judaism as a result. Though it seems that the practices Judaism privately, he has made subtle references to the culture in his writings and interviews and has only been linked romantically with Jewish women. He claimed he attended a Scientology course in his 20s, and that he found it intriguing, but that he didn’t go any farther with it thereafter.
