Her sister has done television serials like Hero – Bhakti Hi Shakti Hai, Kumkum – Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain etc. Simran graduated from Mumbai University.

Simran started her acting career with modelling and giving auditions for the shows. In 2009, She made her debut in television with the serial Mata ki Chowki then worked on several serials like Sanyukt, Kis Desh Mein Hai Mera Dil, Paramavatar Shri Krishna, Krishnaben Khakhrawala etc. She rose to fame performing the role of Gayatri Goenka in Star Plus “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai”. She has worked as an assistant director for some Bollywood movies like The Accidental Prime Minister, Jai Mummy Di and Mission Mangal.
